Hi Neighbors,
“We are only as strong as we are united, we’re only as weak
as we are divided.” — J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter
WELCOME TO OUR NEW NEIGHBORS
You made the right decision to move here. This is a wonderful Community with excellent Neighbors, so I hope you take the time to meet some of them. We are your only source for communication and you won’t always be getting these Newsletters by mail, so all of our Newsletters and Community Information is on our website (www.mrmikesneighborhood.org) the first of every month. Take a peek every month so you’ll know what Mr. Mike’s Neighborhood is doing and what’s happening in the Park.
MR. MIKE’S NEIGHBORHOOD RESIDENT-UNION IS IN THE NEWS
You may not appreciate what we are doing, but the press does. We have been interviewed 4 times within the past two months regarding the efforts we’re trying to accomplish within our Community. They know that what we’re trying to accomplish for the mobile home residents is important and worth shouting about from the rooftops. Take a moment and view all 4 of them on the Home Page of our Website.
NEIGHBORS ARE NOT GETTING THEIR WATER BILLS AND CHARGED LATE FEES
Are you one of our Neighbors who is not receiving a water bill in the mail every month? Mr. Mike’s Neighborhood Resident-Union has been fighting Sun Communities and Park Management regarding a $581 water bill after a Union Member’s bill averaged only $40 per month. After weeks of not helping us, Mr. Mike’s Neighborhood asked Kyla Russell from WDIV to come and interview him. You can watch the video on the website. If you are having this problem, send me a text.
WE RECEIVE DONATIONS FROM OUTSIDE OUR COMMUNITY
Several weeks ago, Pops Italian Restaurant in Ferndale held a fund raiser to help Mr. Mike’s Neighborhood Community. He offered free pizza to a golf league for donations, and the results were outstanding. We have another person who has a house on a golf course, who’s selling used golf balls and giving the proceeds to Mr. Mike’s Neighborhood. They are so impressed with what we were doing for our Community and wanted to help. Here’s my problem. Why should people who don’t even live here care more for our Community than the Neighbors who live here?
I’ve really tried to get you involved. I wanted to have a Community Picnic, you said no. I wanted to have a Sidewalk Chalk Contest for the kids so I asked for donations from my Neighbors to buy chalk, did not get $1.00. Hell, I couldn’t even convince you to donate one can of fruit per month for our Children’s Fruit Pantry which has now been removed for lack of Community participation. You know we have a Food Pantry and Children’s Book Library so it’s not a secret, but how many of you help to keep them filled? After all, you would be helping your Community.
BUT HERE’S WHAT MR. MIKE’S NEIGHBORHOOD DOES FOR YOU.
WE FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHTS! I’m not afraid of Sun Communities or Park Management. They do absolutely nothing to benefit us and I’m more than happy to place some of your concerns on my shoulders. Miss Linda and I are the only ones who stand up for our Neighbors in this Community, and are proud to do so. You can show your appreciation by joining your Resident-Union and become part of something really special.
A NEW MR. MIKE’S NEIGHBORHOOD MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM
We know that the dues for our Resident-Union of $40 per year per family isn’t a lot. And we know of Neighbors who would like to join but just can’t comfortably afford it. Because you need to be informed of what’s happening in our Community that Park Management won’t provide, we have created the Associate Union Membership Program.
As an Associate Member, you do not have to pay dues, you do not attend Resident-Union meetings or participate in Resident-Union events, and you have no voting priviliges. But what’s most important for you is that you are kept informed with issues that affect our Community just like the Union Members. To become an Associate Member all you need to do is fill out the Registration Form on the back of the brochure, check the second box and turn it in. If you threw out your brochure you can pick one up on the post in front of my home. We’re trying to make it as easy as possible to bring our Neighbors together. Please join and show you care!
